Essential Oils

I recently purchased the doTERRA Family Physician Kit. I have to admit, this sat in my Amazon cart for months before I finally just sucked it up and bought it. Our family is trying hard to make strides to clean up our act so to speak. I have mentioned before that we want to make all of our health and beauty products in order to cut out as many chemicals as possible.

This kit of oils is a good mix of oils for a beginner. It includes lavender, lemon, peppermint, melaleuca, oregano, frankincense, deep blue, breathe, digestZen, and on guard. These seem to be the most popular and commonly used oils. Most of the recipes that I plan to make include these!

When I purchased the oils I also got a diffuser and the super cute oil bag pictured above. The bag was made by a friend of mine. She has a talent for paring up fabrics. When I saw the owls, I just could not resist! 

I have to say I am very pleased with this purchase. I have made some projects using my oils already, and I can't wait to share them with you.

Catching Up

Wow! Its been a long time since I last sat in front of this computer and wrote a blog post. I have missed you guys!  For those who have been wondering what happened to us I apologize. We are all fine and safe in our little part of the desert.

Since it has been so long between post, I thought today I would share with you some photos from the last few months.

We expanded our garden this year. Our front yard gets such great sunshine all day. What a great place to plant!

Of course there has been canning and cooking galore.

We celebrated a 4th birthday with our good friends and family.

A certain little cutie of ours also graduated from preschool.

We got a bike trailer! We have been wanting one for so long now, and some great fiends of ours gifted this one to us.

We hiked and explored.

We visited family at Yosemite National Park.

DJ and I also got to go on a hike all by ourselves. This was such a treat!!!

 

On top of all that there was Short Rounds surgery, painting the outside of our house, Vacation Bible School, and much more.

Now that you are all caught up in the happenings around here, I will get back to sharing lots of crafts, recipes, and DIYing.

 

 



Easter

Hello Everybody!

This Easter was pretty exciting for us. This year Miss O Developed a good understanding of why we celebrate Easter. It makes this Mama proud to hear my little three year old tell me the reason we celebrate Easter is because Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

Of course, the Easter Bunny made a stop by our house as well, which was super fun and magical.

 Our Easter was pretty low key this year. DJ had to work, so we had dinner with our neighbor who also did not have any big celebatory plans. We worked out in the yard some, watched a movie, and relaxed.

Hello Spring

The weather here in Southern Arizona has been so wonderful the last month or so. We have noticed a shift in our habits, and are finding ourselves drawn outdoors. Ahhh, Spring time is wonderful!! Now that Spring is officially here, we have gotten brave and decided to plant our warm weather plants a little early.

Last year, our garden was a bust. I will admit, we didn't put the time into it we should have. This year, however, we are ready. Be prepared folks, because there is lots of fun to come in regards to the garden. We have lots of plans for this little 1/4 acre of ours. We are expanding this year! Plans are being made for new beds, and if we are lucky some small animals might find a home at our little urban homestead!

The Tee Shirt Dress

It can be expensive to keep your kiddos clothed. We are pretty lucky. My parents usually buy most of the kids' cloths, which is a blessing. It helps us to save so much money. I try my best to get as much use out of my kids clothes as possible. This is easier for Miss O than it is for Short Round. Miss O's dresses can be turned into shirts, which stretches the use of the clothes out a couple of seasons.

Recently, I was digging into my pile of projects to start and found this tee shirt dress. The tee shirt is a 24 month shirt that still fits, but is just too short.  This project was so simple. I just measured and cut fabric, then attached it to the shirt. I had to go back and make the hem shorter in order to give her some more mobility.

She is in LOVE with this dress! It looks so cute on her! After I finished this dress, I started going through her dresser looking for more shirts to turn into dresses. I found a bunch of 2T shirts and have already paired them with some fabric. I hope to get these finished for her soon. The great thing is that dresses are the one thing that she loves to wear, but her wardrobe is currently deficient in. These tee shirt dresses fill that need in a super frugal way!

 

California Part Two

 So once again I was going to write this post last night, but Bates Motel got in the way. Oops!

While we were in California we visited Yosemite National Park. My Dad had the opportunity to show off the beautiful park and play tour guide. The munchkins had a great time. Miss O was super excited to get her National Park Passport book stamped with a new park.

We only got to see a small part of the park, and were not able to do much hiking. My grandpa was with us and he is in poor health, so not much walking for us.  Yosemite is such a beautiful area.  I hope we can plan another trip to see more of it someday.
