It Only Takes A Second

Yep! That is Sharpie and silver paint pen.
Oh this child of mine, you can't turn your head for even a moment. Lucky for us she only got marker on herself! There was none on her dress or even the floor!
For anyone who finds their children looking similar to this, nail polish remover help to get most of it off.

Monsoon Damage

All across the news, there are images of monsoon flooding that has taken place in the southwest over the last couple of days. We have not experienced any major flooding like in Phoenix, but we have had some pretty crazy storms. This monsoon season has been pretty pitiful, and I kept telling my parents about the crazy intense storms that we have gotten in the past, well they now know what I am taking about.
Like I mentioned, we have not had any crazy flooding, but I thought I would share pictures of my monsoon damage. The rain pulled the sunflowers straight out of the ground! I was so sad when I saw all those pretty flowers laying on the ground, then my mom suggested that I cut them and bring them inside. WOW, what a simple solution! Why did I not think of that? So now a corner of our home is brighter due to the storm damage.

Bib Kerchiefs For Two

I really wanted to make something new for my little guy. Being the second child, it is always going to be his lot in life to have hand me downs from someone. Since I don't have a lot of time or energy on my hands these days, I decided to make him something small that would be super useful and not take a lot of time. I found the pattern for these bib kerchiefs in Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing for Baby. I made my little guys with intentions of him wearing them around his neck like a cute bib when he is cutting teeth and drooling everywhere. I was so pleased with the finished project that I asked Miss O if she would like a headband and she said yes. So I made three for her as well. She was even able to help me pick out some of the fabric for hers. Now I just need to take the time to enlarge  these and make a couple for myself!

Multi-tasking

Lately, my days have been filled from the time I wake up, till the moment my tired little head hits the pillow with my 2 wonderful kids. Moments that in the past, has been "free time" are no longer available. My new little man is a hungry fella, and a snugger, so he is often found in my arms.
After a couple of days I started to get an itch due to lack of knitting. I am in the middle of a project and I am really wanting to get it finished. (The end product is an exciting thing, but it is also fun to plan and start new projects as well, and I am ready for that.) So I have learned how to do two things at once! Knitting while holding my little man!
Love it!!

In Need Of Some Storage

Ok, so I will admit it, I am a messy and unorganized person! I have a million different interest, and at least 10 unfinished projects taking place at any giving time. Throw a toddler in the mix, and you get a cluttered mess. However, part of my clutter is caused by not having good storage. I made this fabric covered box to help with that. If nothing else, I at least know where the diapers and wipes are.
I found the idea for these fabric covered boxes on a blog called Monkey Business lizziemerin.blogspot.com. I have been looking at storage baskets like this for awhile now, but the are always so expensive. On this blog, she makes a great point, parents with young kids always have boxes around from diapers and wipes. I loved the idea of using materials that I already had, and the fact that the box itself was free! I have another box of wipes in the garage, and I have a feeling I will be making more of these soon.

The Dresser

Miss O's room is finally finished! It took us a while to complete her room because of the dresser. We searched for it for months, then it sat in my garage for about a month till my dad got a chance to paint it. He did a great job, with a little help from Miss O herself.
Once we got the dresser in place, we were able to get the rest of her pictures hung. I would have added photos of this, but her room is a complete disaster. She is currently sleeping with just about every stuffed animal that she owns, and she has recently pulled all her books off the shelf while looking for a certain book! (cute!)

Break Time Is Over

Sorry for our absence over the last week or so. We have been a little busy as you can tell! Our little man is finally here! He sleeps so much more than his big sister, but requires a lot more attention when he is awake. I am currently using one hand to peck away at this here blog post, while holding him with the other hand.
However, break time is over, and post will resume as normal.
Happy Friday everyone!
